Bri Heisler

Bri is an expert in evolutionary biology and human paleontology. She holds a B.S. in biochemistry, a master's degree, and is currently a doctoral candidate. Bri’s research and teaching has taken her far and wide: to perform paleontological fieldwork and to study zoological museum collections across the globe. At home, she has honed her laboratory skills and even worked as an expert witness consulting on legal matters. Her tutoring specialties include AP biology, college genetics, and vertebrate zoology; while teaching, she aims to center her diverse array of experiences and bring that passion and knowledge to her students to help them think, imagine, and explore.

She has been working as a private tutor for several years and has experience designing and delivering university courses in biology. Before that, she served as a teaching assistant for college courses in about every subject that fits under the umbrella of biology, plus several more in chemistry and anthropology, reaching 1,000+ students along the way. She brings global research experience into both her university teaching and into her private tutoring to help students memorize less and discover more.

Our Philosophy

Two tutors, many subjects, one shared teaching philosophy

We believe that excellent tutoring starts with truly getting to know you: your goals, your struggles, and the way that you learn best. We keep sessions conversational and aim to promote dialogue, discussion, and critical thinking- we generally avoid doing a million practice problems ad nauseum! But above this, our years of experience as educators have taught us to be adaptive: we bring a host of strategies and tools to the table. No student has the same needs, so no student should have the same tutoring strategy.

Every lesson is custom-planned and based on your specific needs, so you’ll never receive a one-size-fits-all session. Instead, we blend strategies built over decades of practice in the laboratory, in the field, and in the classroom with real-world examples that click. Our results? Steady growth, bolstered confidence, and a study routine you can actually enjoy.
